Current Projects
Carbon Cutting
Our current focus is carbon-cutting and last half-term we looked at wildlife in the school grounds, with a particular interest in hedgehogs as they are now officially classed as vulnerable to extinction. We are yet to choose our topic for next half term, but it might be further work on wildflowers, plus preparing soil for spring planting of wildflowers up near the WOW.
Hedgehog Houses
As the cold weather has been drawing near, we have been thinking about how to look after the woodland wildlife in our local area. We have been building and making houses for hedgehogs to keep them safe and warm throughout winter.
Plans for the future…
Nature Pond
An amazing project that Eco Council are thinking about is to build a new pond in the WoW (Woodland of Wonders) area. We are currently thinking about the cost implications for a new pond liner and fence and planting. The current pond is quite far into the woodland area and bigger than it needs to be, so we are looking at building a shallow pond slightly further towards the center. Having a pond in the WoW area would be great because the children have shown much enjoyment in pond dipping and exploring the pond wildlife in the past and would love to have this opportunity again.
